W2 professorship “Precision Phenotyping”
We are looking for a person to represent the field of “Precision Phenotyping” in teaching and research. The professorship must represent agricultural technology in teaching on the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses in “Agricultural Sciences” and “Crop Sciences” as well as in interdisciplinary and postgraduate courses and conduct basic and practice-oriented research in a current field of agricultural technology.
These include, in particular, digitalization, automation, artificial intelligence and precision phenotyping in agriculture. This can include the development of new methods for field work based on sensors to measure the condition of plants and models to predict plant growth. Precision farming technologies can also be developed, including networked machinery, real-time sensing, variable rate control, yield mapping, nutrient, plant disease and weed management, and livestock management in the barn.
Research activities can be carried out in climate chambers, greenhouses, field facilities and stables as well as in simulation environments.
Finally, intelligent methods for innovative applications for sensor technology, control technology and robotics can be further developed and tested in cooperation with leading industrial companies for agricultural technology.
In future, these will be used in the areas of precision agriculture and precision research.
