The public pitch “The transparent plant – digitalization of the plant value chain in Saxony-Anhalt meets the consequences of climate change” attracted a lot of interest and in-depth questions from the transfer fair guests. At the project stand, a film provided information about research work at the Julius Kühn Experimental Field of the Institute of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU). A drone on display was used as an example to explain the possibilities for digitizing agriculture. Many visitors were interested in the potential of digitalization in agriculture and the associated effects and risks. However, many of them were also unaware of Saxony-Anhalt’s agricultural potential. This led to many discussions with other exhibitors and research projects. In addition to technology, the project stand also showcased selected crops (spice and medicinal plants) that are already being cultivated (thyme, marjoram) and which may have the potential to become native here as a result of climate change and improve the value chain of some farmers.
